HAWC Walk

The NSLC was proud to have several members participate in the 2025 annual “HAWC Walk & 5k Run”. The event was, in part, to ensure that HAWC could continue its mission of providing support and resources to those affected by domestic abuse. There is always support for those in need, and if you or someone you know may be affected by abuse, learn more about the resources HAWC has available at their website: https://hawcdv.org/

Thank you to HAWC, everyone that participated in the 5k, and everyone who donated to their wonderful organization!

Education Conference a Success

Thank you to everyone that came out for the Labor Council’s 2025 education conference, “Labor Fights Back”. During the conference we heard from graduate students at Tufts working to preserve funding for higher education while fighting for the rights of colleagues targeted by ICE, from professors tracking the spread and influence of fascist ideology, and from working-class union organizers on how best to revitalize the labor movement. We want to thank everyone for attending, all the panelists for sharing their insights, and a special thanks to Carlos Aramayo of Unite Here Local 26 for giving a fantastic keynote address!

LUCE Hotline and Volunteer Opportunities

It seems like every day we hear another story about ICE taking away people from our community and breaking up families. Most have no criminal record and are honest hard-working people, many of them are our union brothers and sisters. Many immigrant communities have been preparing with concerted efforts at “Know Your Rights” trainings and other measures, but every day federal officers flagrantly violate the law with impunity.

If you’d like to get involved and help protect our communities from tyrannical government overreach, the LUCE network is a great way for keeping our communities informed about ICE activity. If you see ICE or suspicious activity that could be ICE related, calling the hotline will log that activity and send out volunteers to verify if federal officers are present or not. By doing this, we keep each other informed with helpful information instead of relying on rumors, hearsay, or unreliable social media posts.

If you’d like to volunteer to be a verifier with LUCE, you can use this link to fill out the interest-form: Link to Verifier Interest Form

If you’d like to volunteer to intake calls with the hotline, please use this interest form: Link to Hotline Operator Interest Form

Together we’re strongest and together we’re safest!
